ESSENTIAL GUIDE TO ACCESS HIGHER EDUCATION IN THE UK.

britain is considered to be one of the best places to get a higher education. it's best universities are ranked among the top of the world, the diplomas are recognized worldwide, study methods are a great combination of tradition and innovation, and here you have the widest choice of courses you can ever imagine - everyone will find something that will be interesting and engaging.

so where do we start?

decide what do you want to study and which university do you want to attend. you can use this and this university rankings as reference, there you can browse unis by subject and location as well as easily access full institution's profile or website where you can find more information about the courses that you are interested in (course program, entry requirements etc).

go to www.ucas.ac.uk  to apply four the course you wish to study, if you are european union citizen. it is a centralized system for all the universities in the UK through which you can make an application to up to 5 different courses in different unies (or the same if you wish). NOTE: you have to submit your application before the 15th of January. to submit your application you will have to write a personal statement, get a reference from a tutor or employer, state your previous academic qualifications, and provide IELTS or TOEFL test results. later during the application process you may be asked by some unies to attend an interview (could also be over the phone) or send your portfolio. you won't have to pass any entry exams! if you are from outside of the EU, then you will most probably need to contact universities international department directly.

only home and EU students can apply for the financial support to cover the cost of studies, as well as costs of living in case you were working in the UK before starting your course. it is better to apply before the start of your course, as some universities are demanding the proof of your ability to pay for the course upon your enrollment, however officially you can make an application for your loan withing the nine months after the start of the academic year.

good luck with your application and your further studies!
